Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about our physiotherapy services and treatments
What conditions do physiotherapists treat?
We treat a wide range of conditions including back/neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, arthritis, stroke recovery, neurological disorders, and workplace injuries. Our treatments are tailored to each patient's specific needs and recovery goals.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, its severity, and how your body responds to treatment. After your initial assessment, we'll provide a recommended treatment plan. Most acute conditions require 4-6 sessions, while chronic conditions may need longer-term management.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you don't need a referral to see a physiotherapist. However, some medical aids may require a referral for reimbursement. We can assess and treat you directly, and if we identify any concerns that need medical attention, we'll refer you to the appropriate specialist.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement and access to the area being treated. For lower body issues, shorts are ideal. For shoulder/neck problems, a tank top or loose-fitting top works well. We have gowns available if needed.
Is physiotherapy painful?
Some techniques may cause temporary discomfort, but we always work within your pain tolerance. You might experience mild soreness after treatment, similar to post-exercise soreness. We'll guide you on what's normal and when to be concerned.
Do you accept medical aid?
Yes, we accept all major medical aids and bill directly for your convenience. We also offer affordable cash rates with flexible payment options. Please bring your medical aid card and ID to your first appointment.
How soon can I get an appointment?
We typically offer same-day or next-day appointments for acute injuries. You can book online, via WhatsApp, or by calling our practice. Emergency cases are prioritized.
What's the difference between physiotherapy and chiropractic?
Physiotherapy takes a whole-body approach focusing on movement rehabilitation, strength, and function. While both professions may use manual therapy, physiotherapy emphasizes evidence-based exercises and education for long-term recovery rather than spinal adjustments alone.
